depending on how they connect to the internet,I believe it is possible for two people to have the same ip address. maybe not likely but possible.

I am probably going to get flamed for this but I am going to say it anyway.

Some people post in such a way that it is very difficult to read. We all use some slang/abbreviations etc ,but some people are worse than others.Some posts have so many missing conjunctions and punctuation marks that it is a chore to get any information from it. What is so hard about typing in complete sentences?


P.S. My grammar is far from perfect but my posts are at least understandable.

Good Morning Shnannon IP (Internet Protocol). Not sure how close of an area it can be tracked to but can put you in the region and locate ones provider. Dont know the exacting features but thats what i got. I think there may be a set of numbers not sure if they are dedicated to a single user or not.

ajk as soon as someone mentioned IP todd powers profile on my ad 2003818 went away he was mailing me about buying my roadster and had a very vague profile with pasted picture of a 572 that he said was his motor the picture looked like it was out of a magazine now its all gone the only other thing that was on his profile was that he was from michigan no phone said he didnt have 1 he would call me from work i wish i new how to post his messages to my add on here really strange

I can tell you one moderator to another, it is very possibl for common IP's to come up for people depending on the network provider and the type of network connections. I run into this problem when trying to weed out the pot stirrers. If I posted from my Blackberry my IP should come back out of Chicago. If I post here my IP comes from another nothern located community but not the one I am posting and if someone else with my company, not necessarily this same building, used the forum you would have like IP addresse. You also will find like IP addresses for users on a wireless network. Wireless technologies are making it harder to weed out the bad seeds using IP address.

You are correct in what you are saying Shawnp. AOL is another snag you failed to mention. Although its nothing fool proof you can use it in combination with 3 or 4 other things to narrow in on someone..I won't share for obvious reasons what those 3 or 4 other things are but you would know being a mod depending what type of program the site is using that you moderate..Many guys that get busted on the IP thing have No clue what a IP is and they step right in to where anyone could tell they are the same person or a connection at minimum..

Misspelled words are common on enternet forums.

It's very difficult. With the mass availability to public access that is a wireless, even the couple of ways you can try to narrow someone down still leaves only a general idea of who someone might be. It used to be some guys could bounce off serves and keep the IP addresses all mixed up. Any more the service provider may do this just to keep up with network demands.

I have also sent a message to Tony on another forum. If he did do this, I would hope he comes forward.

Tony has always been a straight shooter. Very respected guy at the race track. Both at Quaker City and Thompson Raceway along with other area tracks. Never done wrong to anyone. I sent him a message on another forum but not heard back. I hope if he did make the 2nd name he would speak up and correct that. Just not like Tony. Sounds like 2 decent people that just need to agree to disagree on the deal. Good luck to you.

i wish there was some way i could give you access to my ad 2003818 so you could read the multiple posts from tony and toddpower so you could c how simular there posts and almost identical misspellings are and if he is so respectful and such a stand up guy y is he not standing up 4 himself instead of logging off and hiding about the same time he logged off up pops todd with no profile and i bet there is at least 10 posts on my ad where he is trying 2 trick me into meeting this is todds posts on my ad wish someway you could c them and 4 a nice guy tony he sure has a very nasty mouth knowing women and kids look at this site and he talked nice on the forum compared 2 my site is there a way 2 post those posts from my site 2 the forum he tried gett ing me 2 meet him halfway in w. v. and when i said no he tried 2 get me 2 put mon ey in his paypal 4 gas when i asked 4 his phone # said his wife left him and took his phone i thought they were the same after about 2 posts got a buddy working on there ip says he may can match it down 2 a so many digit # to see if it came from 1 and the same he biulds custom computers 4 people thanks SHANNON714
