ProRides-Built 1937 Ford 5-Window Street Rod – Magazine Featured
Offered for sale is a professionally built 1937 Ford custom street rod constructed by ProRides as the shop’s first official project car. The build began with a Wild Rod Factory fiberglass sedan-delivery body, which ProRides modified into its current 5-window sedan configuration by adding, molding, and structurally supporting the rear side-window openings.
The body is finished in PPG Concept Orange with custom graphics by Gary “Mutant” Constable / Mutant Art. Exterior details include Vintique headlights, Yamaha motorcycle-style LED taillights, chrome work by Bill’s Chrome & Polishing, and a polished 20-gallon stainless-steel fuel tank by Rick’s Hot Rod Shop.
Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet crate V8 with 10:1 compression, World Products cast-iron cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Tri-Power intake manifold, and three Rochester 2G carburetors. Additional engine equipment includes custom ProRides air cleaners and valve covers, MSD ignition and wires, a 140-amp Powermaster alternator, Summit shorty headers, custom dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers, a Performance Rod-N-Custom aluminum radiator, and Vintage Air Front Runner engine dress-up components.
The engine is paired with a Summit Turbo 350 three-speed automatic transmission, B&M Holeshot torque converter, polished Inland Empire driveshaft, and a Currie 9-inch rear axle with 3.55 gears and 31-spline axles.
The car is built on a Wild Rod Factory 2-inch by 4-inch boxed-tube chassis. Suspension consists of a Mustang II-style independent front setup and a chrome-plated four-link rear suspension, with Air Ride Technologies ShockWaves at all four corners. Braking is provided by 13-inch Wilwood slotted and drilled four-wheel disc brakes.
Bon Speed “Wild Thang” wheels measure 18x8 inches in front and 20x10 inches in the rear. The documented tire setup is BFGoodrich g-Force tires sized 225/40ZR18 up front and 295/40ZR20 at the rear.
The custom interior was completed by J.C. Auto Trim of Irwin, Pennsylvania, using white and orange Allante and ostrich-style upholstery. Features include Pontiac Fiero bucket seats, a Wild Rod Factory dashboard, Auto Meter Ultra-Lite gauges, a B&M Street Bandit shifter, Billet Specialties steering wheel, steering column, and rearview mirror, plus a Custom Autosound Secret Audio system.
