For Sale: The 1965 Altered Wheelbase Chevy II, "White Noise", well known throughout the Midwest and Mid Atlantic.
Built strictly to the actual 1965 NHRA Rulebook, this former magazine cover car features a nearly 60 year competition history, and was restored by Kip Hansberry of the HAMB. It has recently been converted by us to a 100% period correct, mechanical set up. It is a turn key time capsule ready for exhibitions/match races, nostalgia meets, or as part of an elite collection. (seriously Google "1965 Chevy II, White Noise", Gemini AI has stuff about it.)
The rear axle has been moved forward 8 inches, the front axle moved forward 4 inches for a high 1960s style stance and near 50/50 weight distribution. The rear is a bulletproof 1957 Ford 9 inch with spool and Strange 31-spline axles, and 3.91 gears.
Car is powered by a 468cid BBC, fed by a vintage Edelbrock TR2 tunnel ram and dual Holley 660 center squirters, mounted sideways and sticking through the hood. The car features absolutely NO electronics, a Mallory Dual Point distributor and vintage Voltmaster coil and Moroso amplifier ignite the fuel. An oversized tractor battery sits in the trunk and balances out the weight distribution.
The car was a factory radio delete, heater delete, reverse light delete Chevy II and features such old school weight saving tricks such as "swiss cheese" drilled out inner frame structures and interior panels to shed ever last ounce of weight. Windows are all glass, and the side windows are still functional, and features period blue tint. Car is all steel except for the hood, which is fiberglass.
Power is put down through a built TCI TH400 with a reverse manual valve body and a 10 inch converter w/3500 stall. Vintage Firestone pie crust slicks sit under the quarter panels.
Car is finished in white primer sealer with dark blue candy stripes and hand painted lettering by the famous Ted Turner. It featured on the cover of "Gear and Gals" magazine as well as appeared on Season 4, Episode 4 of "Street Outlaws" where it raced the Dung Beetle. It also was the lead photo for Drag Racing Action Online's coverage of the Nostalgia Spring Fling at Island Dragway this year. (Pictured)
Car features other vintage touches such as twin Moon-tanks (the front one is an overflow while the larger one in the trunk is for fuel), and a genuine Thunderbolt seat in the cockpit.
Has been campaigned in NETO nostalgia events these past few years, but retirement looms, and so its time for this to move to a new home. Priced to sell at $38500. Loads more pictures available upon request. Car has a clean PA title in hand as well.
